Callander

Sometimes the weather forces us to change our plans. After the recent heavy rain, the planned ascent of Ben A’an in the Trossachs had to be postponed and instead of that there were two walks in the Callander area on Sunday 7 April.

The main walk from Callander to Brig o’Turk was a slightly hilly 7 miles. Fortunately the members and visitors had a dry if cloudy and windy day with magnificent views of Lochs Venachar, Drunkie and Achray.

The alternative walk was about 6 miles at a lower level with a circular route from Callander taking in Samson’s Stone and the Falls of Leny. Garbh Uisge (“rough water”) was in full spate!

Before the walks, the Club bus took everybody to Dobbies in Stirling for a coffee stop and afterwards the walkers enjoyed a well-earned social hour in Callander.
