Devilla Forest

We headed east on Mother’s Day for a ramble around Devilla Forest in Fife, which is one of the largest pine forests in the lowlands of Scotland, covering 700 hectares.

After a morning coffee stop at Morrisons, Alloa, we continued past Kincardine to the Devilla Forest car park, where the main walk (9 miles) started, taking in the Red Squirrel Trail, Tulliallan Castle, Moor Loch and the Peppermill Dam.

The members and visitors who opted for the shorter walk got off the Club bus a short distance further on and took a 6.5 mile route through a mixture of moorland and woodland also taking in Peppermill Dam and the Moor Loch.

The weather wasn’t too spring-like this time but was mainly dry and we all warmed up with a well-deserved social hour in Alloa before the journey home.
