Greenock Cut

This time we headed west to the Firth of Clyde. The Club bus went first of all to the Cardwell Garden Centre in Gourock for a breakfast/coffee stop and then continued to Overton in the hills above Greenock, where Club members and visitors split into two groups.

Both groups of walkers started on the same route following the Greenock Cut aqueduct and enjoyed magnificent views in clear and sunny weather over the Firth with Ben Lomond and numerous other hills in the background.

After a lunch stop at the Greenock Cut Visitor Centre, the most energetic walkers continued along the Kelly Cut aqueduct past reservoirs and over moorland and then down to Wemyss Bay, making a total of over 10 miles.  The remaining walkers took a circular route back to Overton, totalling 7 miles.

After the walks, the customary social hour was enjoyed in Largs before the journey back home.
